Our Hubs salted peanuts are Virginia peanuts at their very best. These super extra-large Virginia peanuts have awesome crunchiness and flavor. Whether described as artisanal, home cooked, blister fried, water blanched or just wonderful, you will love Hubs Virginia peanuts. Packaged in a reusable vacuum sealed tin.
I am literally objectively trying to once and for all find the best blister-fried, salted peanut. I have ordered and tried 8 different brands. I have ranked each nut on two separate on the following home-made, admittedly somewhat subjective scale:
SIZE (1 =SMALL, 2 = AVERAGE, 3 = LARGE)
CRUNCHINESS (HARDNESS) 1 = BELOW AVERAGE, 2= AVERAGE, 3 = EXTRA CRUNCHY
TASTE (1 = BELOW AVERAGE, 2 = AVERAGE, 3 = ABOVE AVERAGE, 4 = SUPERIOR)
SALTINESS (0 = INSUFFICIENT, 1 = OK, -2 = TOO SALTY),
AFTER-TASTE -1= UNPLEASANT, 0 = MINIMAL, 1 = PLEASANT
OTHER ATTRIBUTES (FOR ADDED SUBJECTIVE INPUT) POSITIVE = +1-2; NEGATIVE = -1-2
I do give 0.5 points at times.
So far there are some good ones, with HUBS & BERTIE COUNTY’S scoring the highest (11) and two others scoring within one point of 11. There are also some scoring pretty badly (in the 4 range), and these were particularly noteworthy for their burnt-oil after-taste.
Nevertheless, I am still not satisfied as I believe there must be a better nut than what I have tasted so far (or maybe I am crazy and searching for the perfect nut). I was in love with the Virginia peanuts that Wegmans carried but I moved from Rochester NY (it would take a lot more than great peanuts, not to mention the awesome local Texas Hold’em “house” games) and no longer have access. The Wegmans’ nuts that I used may be a bit stale so perhaps their score of 10 should be better. Also, I have not considered cost which might be an issue for a long tern decision. Unlike scotch, where I enjoy mixing it up quite a bit, I can not see ever liking the seriously lower scoring nuts.
Bite sized salted pretzels dunked in dark chocolate. Salty, sweet and delicious! Dark chocolate covered pretzels are the perfect snack to keep around the kitchen or to serve at any occasion.
Milk Chocolate covered Sea Salt Caramels are so good ! Chewy vanilla caramels are dipped in milk chocolate then finished off with a sprinkle of sea salt
